Teeling Whiskey Distillery is located in an ancient market square, Newmarket, in the heart of Dublin, which has traditionally been the centre of the Irish whiskey industry. During Walter Teeling’s time there were in excess of thirty seven different distilleries in Dublin. The original Teelings Whiskey Distillery was established in 1782 and was located in close proximity to the new distillery, it closed as a result of many factors that culminated in a decline for the demand for whiskey.

Teeling Whiskey Distillery was voted the world’s best whiskey visitor attraction at the prestigious World Whiskies Awards. It is a must for any whiskey fans and will certainly appeal to anyone with an interest in Dublin’s Irish Whiskey heritage.

It is the first new distillery in Dublin in more than 125 years, opening in June 2015, and was erected at the original 18th century site. It is the sole operational distillery in Dublin, it has been more than forty years since whiskey was distilled here in the city.

A visit to this award winning attraction will provide visitors with the opportunity to learn about the process of whiskey making, from distilling to dram, through one of their guided tours. Tours last between forty five minutes and an hour and are taken by Teeling Whiskey Ambassadors, they are animated, knowledgeable and professional. Tours commence at the exhibition area, where the history of Irish whiskey is detailed from its humble beginnings through to curent day. Visitors then move into the inner workings of the distillery where they will experience the heat, sounds, smell and the essence of a fully operational distillery, seeing first hand how whiskey is produced. It is a three copper pot still operation and has resurrected the traditional style of Dublin whiskey distillation. The family tradition is quality over quantity and they certainly adhere to this philosophy as each bottle of unique Teelings is crafted to the highest standards possible. Throughout the tour visitors will discover all the ins and outs of the whiskey making process, from what ingredients are used, how it is made, the maturing process and evaporation, as well as who makes it, as visitors interact with the people working here.

The tour concludes with a tutored tasting session where a selection of whiskey’s are sampled. The perfect way to end a fabulous experience.

Afterwards take time to visit the lovely Bang Bang Bar, its large round windows provide lots of light as well as fabulous views out over Dublin city, here visitors can enjoy a handcrafted cocktail made by their skilled mixologists.

The excellent Phoenix Cafe serves a fabulous selection of tasty home-cooked artisan dishes made from the best locally sourced products, as well as delicious homemade treats.

The Teeling Shop is a retail area selling a nice selection of exclusive Teeling Whiskey merchandise and their award winning whiskeys. Visitors can avail of the option to buy their own bottle of Teeling Whiskey straight from the cask.
