Ballyliffin Golf Club, consists of two outstanding, contrasting Championship Links Courses and 36 wonderful holes make up one of the finest golf resorts to be found anywhere in the world, not least here in Ireland.

Located in the Inishowen Peninsula, a truly beautiful area and set in 365 acres of stunning duneland you are thoroughly spoilt by the dramatic scenery here.

The far reaching sweeping views of countryside, coastline and ocean enjoyed by these magnificent links course will remain with you log after you leave. The Old Links is the original course here and dates back to 1947 but underwent improvements in 2006 when Nick Faldo redesigned it, making subtle changes to improve it. Working with the natural terrain, the improvements have strengthened what was a great course into a wonderful course. What you get is a genuine links course where luck as well as skill comes into play. The Old Course is slightly shorter out of the two courses and perhaps a little easier but don’t be complacent by this you are still in for a challenge. It is a course of character and charm owing to its extraordinary terrain, it is unique in that regardless of which tee you play the fairway undulates in all directions, it is difficult to find any flat here. The layout is superb and there are no poor holes, they are all excellent.

You will find is a rugged course with undulating fairways, hidden pot bunkers but some great par 4’s and then there are the prevailing winds to contend with. The Old Course is a pleasure to play and a challenge to all level of golfer, there are holes where you will need to consider your options carefully before you play.The course takes you right down to the coast and the scenery here is fantastic. Playing here is taking golf back to the basics, natural, uncomplicated and pure, it is how golf should be.
