It is located on an island, that is completely detached from the mainland, along the River Suir, and sits amongst a private estate of 310 acres. Access to the island is via a private car ferry that operates throughout the day, it only takes a three minutes to cross. It is a stunning and magical castle reminiscent of a fairytale with its battlements, ivy clad facade and idyllic setting. It is quite a small setting with only 19 guest rooms. These beautifully individually designed guest rooms are spacious and comfortable, they still retain many of their original features and enjoy a classically traditional decor heralding back to their origins. They are gracious in style and feature all modern conveniences to ensure a pleasant stay but, it is the additional attention to details and extra luxuries in these rooms that ensure a memorable stay. Most rooms have stunning views out over the delightful grounds.
There are also self catering lodges available, they are contemporary and stylish, are well appointed and feature all the amenities need to provide an enjoyable stay away from home.
Fine dining is on offer in the award winning Munster Room Restaurant, with its elegant oak-panelling and ornate ceiling it is a uniquely beautiful setting. The menu is complimented by a great wine cellar and there is an excellent choice of delicious seasonal cuisine all prepared by the highly acclaimed chefs. It offers a formal dining experience and the resident pianist further adds to the experience.
Grand Entrance Hall is a pleasant and relaxing setting with its large inviting open fire and comfy seating. Guests can enjoy a sumptuous Afternoon Tea, an old and enjoyable tradition.
Fitzgerald Room is an intimate space, that is both elegant and comfortable and makes for a great place to meet and mingle or just relax in front of the crackling log fire. There is a light menu available throughout the day featuring a selection of tasty and interesting dishes.
The beautiful grounds are tranquil and picturesque and offer lovely walks around the estate, as well a number of nature trails. The grounds play host to a wealth of activities, including, falconry, picnics, archery tennis, croquet and clay pigeon shooting. There is also a playground for children. A large draw for many is the championship 18-hole parkland golf course along with a putting green, it is not uncommon to see the deer wandering about.
