Ballynahinch Castle - Rural Location

Ballynahinch Castle enjoys an enviable location in the beautiful and alluring Connemara in County Galway, along the Wild Atlantic Way. This 4-star establishment occupies an 18th century castle and sits amongst the rugged landscape and forest of this 450 acre estate, overlooking the Owenmore River and with the 12 Bens Mountain range forming a dramatic backdrop. This award winning castle dates back to 1756 and has been sympathetically renovated to accomodate this luxurious hotel, that has welcomed many notable guests throughout its lengthy history.

The guest rooms are spacious and comfortable and are furnished to a superior standard, there are not many rooms in ireland to meet the exacting standards of Ballynahinch Castle. The rooms in the original castle are decorated in a country-chic style. The newer superior rooms in the riverview wings are elegant and have a more modern feel. All rooms are well appointed and have a number of facilities to provide a more enjoyable and convenient stay. Many of the rooms have delightful views out over the river and woodlands.

The castle has an authentic decor and a welcoming and cosy atmosphere with its open log fires, warm colours and wood floors and panelling.

There is fine dining in the award winning Owenmore Restaurant, specialities include fresh fish and game. The menu is diverse and changes frequently to accomodate the freshest and finest seasonal produce, resulting in creative and delicious cuisine served in the opulent and comfortable dining room, with stunning views out over the river. Dining here is a highlight of a visit.

The Fisherman's Pub provides an authentic country pub experience, and welcomes both locals and visitors. The menu recognises the quality and taste of authentic and traditional local Irish cuisine. It has a unique atmosphere and decor, the walls are adorned with records and images of fishing exploits.

The surrounding grounds provide ample activities so there is no need to even leave the grounds during a stay here. These activities include, hiking the trails, tennis, biking, fly-fishing, clay shooting, woodcock shooting, pony trekking or just exploring the extensive and beautiful grounds.

Ballynahinch Castle might be opulent and lavish but, it caters to its guests with an incomparable Connemara hospitality, meaning guests receive a more personal but professional service. Combined with its scenic location guests are assured a memorable experience, that will leave them wanting to return again.
