Ashford Castle - Rural Location

Ashford Castle enjoys an enviable location on the picturesque shores of Lough Corrib in Cong, County Mayo. This award winning luxurious hotel occupies a 13th century castle, and sits amongst 350 acres of lovely parkland. This medieval castle is one of Ireland's most magnificent castles and has a long history waiting to be explored by those that stay here. The castle is richly decorated and has been restored to its historic splendour featuring skilfully crafted, wonderful oak panelling and ornate plaserwork. Exquisite antiques and fine antique furnishings are to be found throughout.

The spacious rooms are elegantly decorated and individually designed in an olde-worlde charm, with sumptuous furnishings and antique furniture providing all the comforts needed. They are excellently equipped with all modern conveniences and some thoughtful touches to ensure guests have a enjoyable stay. Each of the rooms have fabulous views of either the delightful gardens, the flowing river or the vast waters of Lough Corrib.

There is a choice of dining options, the highly acclaimed George V Dining Room offers formal dining in the period style stately dining room. The menu is diverse and features a fabulous range of creatively inspired dishes, made using the finest fresh local produce, all complimented by a fine selection of wines. Cullen's at the Cottage provides relaxed and casual dining featuring international and local dishes, it is only open seasonally.

The Dungeon Bar is a medieval-style pub located in the lower ground floor of the castle. In this unique setting guests can savour a more relaxed dining experience, featuring a bistro style menu, focusing on traditional Irish cuisine. It and is home to resident entertainers, featuring traditional Irish music, ballads, poetry and storytelling. There is also the Prince of Wales Bar, featuring oak-panelling and traditional furnishings and an open fire creating a warm and welcoming ambience. The perfect environment to sit back and relax in.

Guests can indulge in the long established tradition of Afternoon tea in the Victorian style drawing room. On the menu is a wide selection of speciality teas, delicate finger sandwiches, freshly baked warm scones, delectable pastries and cupcakes. The ideal way to spend a relaxing afternoon with friends.

The hotel is home to numerous facilities inclding a nine-hole golf course, a cinema, an equestrian centre and falconry school. The grounds offer fabulous walks around its 350 acres of ancient woodland and beautifully manicured gardens. Then there is fishing on Lough Corrib, as well as lake cruises

The state of the art Spa, is stylish and luxurious and is equipped with a whirlpool, steam-room and sauna. Available are a complete range of beauty treatments.
