Course Description

Founded in 1890, and situated to the North of Dublin City, The Island Golf Club continues to be regarded as one of the finest Links courses on the Island of Ireland.

2011 British Open Championship winner Darren Clarke described The Island as “A fantastic links which tests every club in the bag," while The Island has been utilised as a Qualifying Couse for the British Open Championship in 2013 and 2014.

The views of Dublin City, the Irish Sea and the surrounding lands can only be described as breath-taking. Rarely does a course deliver so many picture perfect views in 18 holes. The accolades which The Island has received speak volumes for the quality of this course:

  • Number 14-ranked course in Ireland, by “Golf Digest Ireland” in 2014.
  • Golf World November 2005 – The Island was voted number 26 “must play” courses in Golf World Top 100 Courses in the World

Our Favourite Hole

13 - Unlucky for some? We can’t guarantee you a birdie on the 13th hole at The Island, but what we can guarantee is a masterful 190 metre Par 3. With the Irish Sea running along the length of the hole to the players right, and often playing into the sea breeze, this is simply an World Class Links Golf Par 3 on a World Class Links Course.
